How to Prepare Your Home Heating System for Warmer Weather

Last updated 1 year ago

When it finally seems that winter is coming to an end, there are several steps you should take to prepare your home heating system for warmer weather. Follow these simple tips and enjoy the benefits of a properly maintained heating system.

Schedule Regular Maintenance

As the icicles start to melt, you should think about calling the heating contractors to perform semi-annual maintenance checks on your heating system. A quick inspection will allow them to make sure all filters are clean and that everything else is in order for the start of warmer weather.

Get Any Repairs You May Need

While the heating service company is checking out your heating system, it is a good idea to have them make any necessary heating repairs before you need to use the furnace again next winter. It’s much better to go through furnace repairs when the weather is warm and operating the furnace isn’t necessary.

Double Check the Outside Unit

If any part of your heating system is outdoors, then you want to make sure to check it periodically to make sure nothing is interfering with it. Brush away and leaves or other debris that may have accumulated after a particularly windy day, and take the time to sweep around the unit to ensure that air can flow through freely.
